International Women’s Day is a time to not only celebrate the pioneering women of the past, but to reflect on those figures influencing the world today.
In a bid to determine which woman is today’s most influential, Sky News hosted a poll in a bid to ‘take matters away from experts and let the people decide.’
And they did.
Nicola Sturgeon pipped the queen to top spot and is officially the UK’s most influential woman.

That also puts the SNP duo ahead of Emmeline Pankhurst, Florence Nightingale and the Bletchley Park women.
Prime Minister Theresa May is sitting outside the top ten, in 16th place.
